Some history…I am a 9 year veteran of the NFL, owner/creator of CrossFit Football, co-owner of a strength & conditioning gym in Newport Beach and am CEO of Evolve Foods, a natural food and supplement company; you might be more familiar for our Paleo Brands products.
“Talk to me, Johnnie”?
If you are not familiar with the quote, you need to watch First Blood a few times. It is one of the best movies ever made and one of my all time favorites. The quote comes from a part in the movie when Colonel Trautman has been sent to help the Sheriff deal with John Rambo. Rambo has just escaped from custody, is held up in the mountains and the local authorities are trying to get a fix on his position. They offer Trautman the radio, he clicks the mic on and says,
“Company leader to Raven….Company leader to Raven…talk to me Johnnie”.
Seems like an odd name for a website until you understand the back story and significance of the quote.
When i played in the NFL (I am sure many athletes are like this) I got consumed with work. Once training camp started around the 3rd week of July till February I would fall off the grid so to speak. You work 16 hour days for weeks on end in training camp and once the season starts it is 100 mphs and does not leave a lot of time for staying touch or just saying hello. I didn’t return phone calls or email until after the season.
This was pretty common; towards the end of the year a good friend, who was drafted the same year year I was, would text me, “Company leader to Raven…talk to me Johnnie”. Much like Col. Trautman, it was his way of getting back in touch. I would respond as Rambo did…”They are all dead, sir”.
In the last year, we created CrossFit Football, traveled the world teaching the CrossFit Football methods, started a food company and co-own a strength & conditioning gym. CrossFit Football gets a lot of emails and a lot of questions to the site. Many of them the same questions over and over again. We have tried answering them one by one but that doesn’t help the masses, so I have decided to create this site as an informational resource to deal with what the people I am in contact really want.
To get stronger, faster, increase work capacity and eat for performance and health.
