Be water, my friend

"Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee [...]

Take a Deep Breath…

Hey John, I love the new Talk To Me Johnnie.  I'm not sure if my question is web appropriate, but I broke my second metatarsal in my right foot all the way through, and I have stress fractures in my left foot and left tibia.  Needless to say, I'm up shit's creek.  I know we always hear stories about pro athletes healing in just a few weeks or coming back from major injuries [...]

Let Every Nation Know…

For many of you that follow the CFFB on a daily basis will have noticed that in the last few months we have been getting a lot of posts from some of our boys in Afghanistan. They like signing F.K.S after their names and have been featured on the site. CF Football is proud of boys and girls fighting to ensure our freedom and anything we can do to help is just a [...]

Sled Pulling

Hi John - My name is Tyler and I am a swimmer at Middlebury College. Along with some of my teammates I have been following CFFB since our season ended. As both sprinters and athletes needing big gains in strength and size, the CFFB programming has been a perfect fit for our needs. Personally, I've coupled it with w CFE-type swimming program and I am swimming faster than I did all season! Thanks [...]

Be Smart

I happened last Tues doing OHS. The gym here is somewhat of a “globo” gym, so they don't have anything like bumper plates, or anything CrossFit related. The rack is too wide to set your hands for OHS right out of the rack.  So we'll just take it off in a rack position, set our hands, jerk it overhead, do the reps, and either bring it back to rack position, or drop the [...]

Just Tell Me What To Eat…

Talk To Me Johnnie - After reading the information on fats and ketogenic diets, I am confused. Can you just tell me what to eat? It seems that I needed some counseling, so I did what any intelligent individual would do, I contacted Chuck Norris for his views on nutrition and the Power Athlete Diet TM. I asked for an accurate prescription for what I should be eating. Chuck responded and delivered the [...]

Sounds of the 70’s

I saw a response on Twitter from SicFitDotCom, asking "Who is Marshall Tucker Band?". I gasp in horror thinking that someone might not know the Marshall Tucker Band, then I thought, maybe many of the bands and songs that have played the soundtrack of my life might not be known to this new generation. If they didn't know The Marshall Tucker Band, then they might not know Molly Hatchet. Here is a collection [...]

Compression Skins

John – Have you used compression skins or compression shorts to aid in recovery or increase performance? Do you think they work and if they make a difference in your training or competition? James D. James - While my experience wearing tight spandex is extensive after a career in the NFL, I am not an expert on compression gear. But I have worn compression shorts during my career when I pulled my groin [...]

Ketogenic Diets

Is there any fast food out there that is worth a damn? And what about Ketogenic Diets? Are they really good for performance and health? While I do not advocate the consuming of fast food...I do have one weakness...In-N-Out Burger. A Double Double with Onions Protein Style is my order of choice when we looking for a quick meal. For those of you that are not from California and are not familiar with In-N-Out [...]

Skulls of Our Enemies

"As for the primitive, I hark back to it because we are still very primitive. How many thousands of years of culture, think you, have rubbed and polished at our raw edges? One probably; at the best, no more than two. And that takes us back to screaming savagery, when, gross of body and deed, we drank blood from the skulls of our enemies, and hailed as highest paradise the orgies and carnage [...]
